Jimbaran lies on the western side of Bali’s narrow isthmus, a sweeping golden-sand bay that curves for five kilometres from the southern side of the airport to the bushy headland that’s home to the Four Seasons Resort and the start of the Bukit Peninsula. Despite many five-star developments in the area, Jimbaran Beach remains quiet during the daytime.

Non-surfers can simply kick back on the huge deck and enjoy the nail-biting action displayed by the pros riding the waves below. Food includes hearty salads and delicious pizzas to share, pasta, satays, nachos and more.

  • Ride the waves at Padang Padang Beach

    Padang Padang Beach is one of Bali’s most popular surf spots. Locally referred to as Pantai Labuan Sait and featured in the ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ movie, it is 8.7km from Villa Kapungkur, and boasts a 100-metre-long stretch of sand accessible through a hollow rock entrance. The waves are for advanced surfers, but the beach is great for the whole family.

  • Pura Luhur Uluwatu

    This 11th-century temple (12.2km) is balanced on the edge of a rocky cape, overhanging perpendicular cliffs 70 metres above the Indian Ocean. Its grey volcanic stone, glowing with the radiant colours of the setting sun, will leave you with a lasting and haunting memory of spiritual Bali. Don’t miss the Kecak fire dance, performed daily at 6pm at the amphitheatre.

  • Create your own pots at Jenggala Ceramics

    Jenggala’s factory and showroom (3.1km) encourages you and your children to explore your creativity in ceramic hand-painting sessions, after which your creations will be fired in the kilns and ready for collection within 5–7 days. Furthermore, a three-session course offers an introduction to the pleasures of handling clay and creating your very own unique ceramic piece.

  • GWK Cultural Park

    Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park (4.3km) is a multipurpose open-air site covering 250 hectares in the hills of Ungasan. The main showpiece is the gigantic statue depicting the benevolent Hindu god Vishnu riding on the back of the mythical Garuda eagle. The park is a venue for art and cultural performances, exhibitions, as well as world-class gigs. The monument towers 145 metres high, and is included in the world’s list of tallest landmarks.

  • Have a go at Go-Karting

    Experience the thrill of Go-Karting (just 5 minutes’ walk from Villa Kapungkur) on a 400-metre tree-bordered concrete track that has everything to test your skills – long straights, sharp corners and even an overpass. Passing over and underneath the bridge is one of the highlights of this track and adds a very cool dynamic to your races.
